    Each year, the AAMC Collaborative for Health Equity: Act, Research, Generate Evidence (AAMC CHARGE) hosts quarterly speed-networking events designed to help members discover new collaborators, gain fresh perspectives, and expand their professional networks. This year we are excited to introduce the next evolution of this work: the AAMC CHARGE Action and Research in Health Equity (CARHE) series. 

    About the Series

    Hosted by the AAMC CHARGE community ambassadors, the CARHE series brings together health equity professionals and champions from across the country for an energizing hour of connection and collaboration. This year each speed-networking session has a focused theme and a guest speaker:

    Food Justice

    March 19, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET
    Guest speaker: Kelly V. Naranjo, MS, God’s Love We Deliver

    In this session, participants will explore how access to nutritious, affordable, and culturally responsive food shapes health outcomes and community well-being. Kelly Naranjo, from God’s Love We Deliver, a New York City-based organization that delivers medically tailored meals to people with chronic illnesses, will share perspectives from the front lines of advancing equitable food access. 

    Criminal Justice

    May 7, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET
    Guest speaker: Thomas C. Cotton III, MA, Redemption & Advancement Alliance Inc.

    This session will feature insights from Thomas C. Cotton III, founder and CEO of Redemption & Advancement Alliance Inc., an organization that equips people who have been involved with the justice system to overcome cycles of violence, incarceration, and poverty to foster economic mobility and social impact. Cotton will share his work advancing justice, healing, and community-centered reform. Participants will explore how incarceration, reentry, and justice-system involvement shape individual and community health outcomes.

    Health Care Access

    August 6, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET
    Guest speaker: Brian Li, MBA, Common Spirit Health

    In this session, participants will examine persistent barriers to care and explore strategies for advancing access across diverse communities. This session will feature insights from Brian Li, system director of community health strategic initiatives at Common Spirit Health, the country's largest Catholic health system and its second-largest nonprofit health system. Li will share perspectives on advancing access through community-centered strategies.

    Law and Policy

    October 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET
    Guest speaker: Medha D. Makhlouf, JD, Penn State Dickinson Law

    This session will feature Medha D. Makhlouf, Elsie de R. and Samuel P. Orlando distinguished professor, and director of the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic, at Penn State Dickinson Law. Makhlouf will share expertise on leveraging legal frameworks to promote equitable health outcomes. Participants will explore how legislation, regulation, and policy advocacy can drive systemic transformation and improve equitable health outcomes.
