The AAMC Center for Health Justice submitted comments to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on Dec. 12, 2023, and to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Dec. 15 in response to two separate requests for information on advancing environmental justice across the federal government.
The letters, informed by the expertise of members of AAMC CHARGE, recommended:
- Creating bidirectional channels for community engagement and trust building
- Establishing common language for discussing environmental justice
- Developing processes for sharing environmental justice research and information across federal agencies
- Including people with disabilities in NIH policies, programs, and strategic plans
